Notlar Wooden object composed of two Hathor heads, human faced with cow’s ears, back to back, surmounted by inscribed double naos, incomplete plug at base. Probably a votive offering in form of conventionalized sistrum. Inscription: Not entirely clear but seems to be plea to Khonsu and Amon for life and health. One side of naos inscribed to the Divine Father and Steward of Min. Other side inscribed to wr.3s.t. (?). Condition: Originally fitted with handle, now missing. Base of both Hathor heads extensively chipped. Once covered in a thick black paint over which was a varnish completely obscured the inscription and many details of the carving. Painted surface was removed revealing inscription. | more | less
