Notlar The bronze statue depicts a figure of a lion goddess (Sekhmet?) seated upright on an unmarked throne. The left hand of the figure is wrapped around a utensil, while the right hand is held in a flattened position at the figure’s side. The figure is wearing a skirt and a lion’s head as a headdress. The features of the lion’s head are detailed with incised lines which mark the lion’s mane and whiskers. The expression on the lion’s face is at rest and its mouth is closed. Incised lines on the arms of the goddess and across the chest suggest armbands and a necklace. The feet of the seated figure are placed in parallel atop a small rectangular footrest which is attached to the base of the throne. There is no inscription. Condition: Entire figure corroded. Object missing from left hand. Detail missing from top of head. | more | less
