Örnek Metin An annotation concerning a transfer of ownership which reads: 'Transferred by sale to shaykh Shams al-Dīn Abū ’Abd Allāh Muhammad al-Samhūri (i.e., from Samhūr near Alexandria), one of the oculists and surgeons (ahad al-kahhālīn wa-al-jarā’ihīn) in the Islamic lands, from al-shaykh ’Alā’ al-Dīn ibn al-Dawālībī al-muhaddith al-Hanbalī during the middle ten days of the month of Ramadān al-mu’azzam 846 [(AH), i.e. 13-24 Jan 1443 CE]’. The date for this entry is given in zimāmī or rūmī (Greek) alphanumeric ciphers, related to Coptic numerals. At the bottom of the folio is a recipe for the removal of unwanted hair and the prevention of its growth. The page bears the same invocation of the buttercup for protection of the book against pests as is found on the title page. al-Kutub al-mi’ah fī al-sinā’ah al-tibbīyah (The Hundred Books on the Medical Art). A copy of al-Kutub al-mi’ah fī al-sinā’ah al-tibbīyah (The Hundred Books on the Medical Art), a general medical manual by a Christian physician named Abū Sahl ’Īsá ibn Yahyá al-Masīhī (d. 401 AH/1010 CE). The Bodleian manuscript appears to be the earliest recorded copy (completed in the month of Sha’bān 592 AH, ie. July 1196 CE) and is also of interest because of a number of medieval Latin annotations recorded in the Crusader States sometime between 1196 CE and 1443 CE.
