A small, perforated Chinese copper coin (Balinese: pis bolon; Indonesian: kepeng) serves as a fastener; the other end is fastened with knots. — palm leaf — According to an earlier note, this palmleaf ms. is “a creation history of man” (Tjeritera deri pada Kadjadian manusya). Although the ms. comes from Bali and is written in Balinese, the language is Malay with Javanese influence. In terms of content, this text is about the reflections of the 19th-century Javanese mysticism (see, eg, Hadiwijono, 1967).
