Brocaded silk velvet with silver and gilt roundels reserved against red ground, probably Bursa, Ottoman Turkey, 1550-1600

Cut and voided red silk velvet pile, with supplementary silver and gilt wrapped silk wefts, edges bound with crimson satin. Thick cotton weft, masked by the metal-wrapped silk wefts.
