Bag face WARP: cream wool; Z2S; 28 threads per inch (approximately 112 per dm counted as 56 per 5 cms.) WEFT: light brown wool; Z spun, unplied; 2 parallel threads per shoot; 1 shoot after each row of knots; 25 knots per inch (95 per dm). PILE: wool and cotton; 8 colours: red, yellow, dark green, dark blue, light blue, pink, dark brown, white (cotton); asymmetrical knot open to the right and tied around 2 threads; 350 knots per sq. inch (5320 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: cut END FINISH: cut but lower end has 2 cms. of plain weave with blue, cream and boue weft turned and stitched in place. DESIGN: field: three bands of four oblongs, each containing identical white cotton and red wool gul. Upper left and lower right corners in alternating oblongs are pairs of dark blue or dark green containing yellow cross outlined in red with white cross, outlined in brown in other two corners. Oblongs divided and bordered by bands and rows of white cotton diamonds on red ground, separated by green or dark blue Xs. Main border: quartered multi-coloured diamonds on a red ground, with half a six-sided gul to either side. Inner and outer border: white cotton quartered flowerheads separated by squares quartered in dark blue or red diagonal squares. Upper and lower borders: 3 cms. of undecorated red pile, the lower having two lines of dark blue dashes and a final continuous line in dark green. Catalogue date> 10.8.94
