Fiziksel açıklama Caucasian: late 19th century. Storage bag end panel, soumak (check type), mostly single, some countered, some vertical and diagonal wrapping. WARP: 1 thick light brown and 2 thin dark brown woollen threads plied togher; Z3S; 14 threads per inch (60 per dm). WEFT: Foundation: white wool; Z2S;, 1 shoot after patterned weft; 20 threads per inch (80 epr dm). Pattern: wool; Z2S; 9 colours: dark red, red, red orange, yellow, green, dark blue, blue, black, cream; Sequence: over 2 warp threads and back under 1. SIDE FINISH: returned wefts both sides. END FINISH: Lower: cut. Upper 1 cm. max plain weave with red wool weft has been turned under and stitched into place. DESIGN: there are 13 bands of geometric design. The deep central band (number 7) has one band and two half bands of infilled, cross-like motifs. Counting from the bottom, bands 1,5, 9 and 13 are the same; bands 3 and 11 are the same. Catalogue date: 27.3.91
Üretim The Anglo-Persian Carpet Co., S. Kensington. Purchased for 5/6d. "Mat, Soumak" This and two others are "pieces of Soumak weaving from saddle bags, apparently the work of nomad Turcomans.
