Malzemeler ve teknikler
Woven silk brocade with vertical and horizontal point repeat with 4 minimum pattern areas. Satin foundation structure 4/1 satin, warp count: 70, 1-strand dark ivory silk; no visible twist. Weft: cotton. Satin & velvet warp order 3-1-3. Velvet structure: red and green silk, pile counts, warp 7, along weft 14. Binding weft threads: ivory silk, skinny. Brocade structure: 2-1 twill (?), count 12. Shots between pile: 2, metal & twist: silver (?). Z tightness of wrap: super. Brocade only used in the medallions; wefts are a bit curvy. Selvedges: dimensions 2 cms. One side displays dark warps, near inner edge; middle portion shows proportionally more weft; then outer edge again shows more warps. Other side has red pile warp used in the selvedge. This textile has a reed or stick left in it at one end. This was used to substitute for wefts when dividing one cushion from the next when on the loom. The lappets, in both warp and weft, are a goldy-yellow colour. Perhaps painted later?
