Around the edge is a border inscription in cursive script, in lustre on a white ground, and outlined at top and bottom with cobalt blue lines. (Translation of the inscription: "In the name of God! the Compassionate! the Merciful! For the infidels We have got ready chains, and collars, and flaming fire. Verily a wine-cup tempered with camphor the just shall quaff; fount whence the servants of God shall drink, and guide by channels from place to place.")
