Laid European paper (unidentified watermarks). Illuminated headpiece, rubricated, catchwords, abundant marginal glosses and corrections. Text enclosed in gilt and red rule-borders, marginal glosses enclosed in a single line blue rule-burders. Begins from Sūrat Baqarah, colophon enclosed in a decorative box in red and green. Transcribed by 'Abd Allāh ibn Yaḥyā al-Khashīnī. This is composition no. 1 from a manuscript with two compositions. Holding in McGill Library's Rare Books and Special Collections: 2 titles bound together subsequent to production: Kitāb Shāfī al-'alīl fī Sharḥ al-Khams -mi'a min al-Tanzīl. (ff.1a-86b), 1113 [1701]. -- Asbab al-Nuzul Ayat al-Qur'an. (ff. 87a-169b). Ṣafar 1094 [1682].
