Includes Baysonghor’s Preface (ff. 2v-15r).White oriental polished paper. 36.5 x 23.5 cm. (24 x 13 cm.).Illuminated double title page (20.5 x 10 cm.) (sarlawḥ, ff. 2v-3r), with epigraph in white thuluth. A second small sarlawḥ at f. 326r, over a miniature. Numerous folios with oblique writing in lozengy or echelon grid.Written in fair black nastaʽlīq, golden for captions of the episodes in blue framed cartouches (5.5 x 2 cm.). Four columns (one for the Preface), 23 lines per page, within a golden frame with external blue line. 33 miniatures in color (ff. 1v-2r, 18v, 30v, 43v, 61v, 88r, 97v, 114r, 123r, 146r, 163r, 178v, 203r, 221r, 229r, 243r, 296r, 315r, 326r, 345v, 375v, 393v, 416r, 432v, 452v, 475v, 495v, 511v, 533v, 554v, 595v, 618r, 653v), of which only two seem to be signed in the name of Maḥmūd-i Mudhahhib (ff. 1v-2r e 511v), and one in the name of ʽAlī b. Muḥammad al-Mashhadī (f. 30v)., Red leather binding with flap, onlays and tooling, gilt; inside front and back cover decorated with painted medaillons. 19th century? Paper trimmed on the edges.
