Örnek Metin The Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen papers cover every period of Oldenburg's career from his youth to 2019, including unpublished materials from the height of his activity in the 1960s. Included in the collection are drawings, notes, diaries, and other handwritten texts, covering more than 60 years of Oldenburg's activity; personal and business records; more than 2,000 loose sketches and collages; and photographic documentation, film, video, and audio reels. Among the many projects represented in the collection are Ray Gun Theater, Store Days, Ironworks/Fotodeath, AUT OBO DYS, Moveyhouse, and Il Corso del Coltello (The Course of the Knife). Also present are 15 sketchbooks and 150 loose drawings related to "Neubern," the imaginary city Oldenburg created and depicted in drawings between 1936 and 1939. In addition to materials related to their collaborations, the papers of Coosje van Bruggen feature important research materials related to van Bruggen's career as an art historian and curator, including her work at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and her research for monographic publications on Bruce Nauman, John Baldessari, Hanne Darboven, and Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Biyografik/Tarihsel Not The son of a Swedish diplomat, Claes Oldenburg was born in 1929 in Stockholm and spent his earliest years in New York and Oslo. After being disqualified from the Selective Service in January 1952, he devoted himself to the pursuit of art. His interest in theater led him to a group of environmental artists who had given up painting for performance. As his work received greater acclaim, Oldenburg began creating proposals for public monuments for various cities at home and abroad. He transformed his sculptures of ordinary objects into geographical interventions on an architectural scale. Dutch art historian and curator Coosje van Bruggen became his formal collaborator in 1976 and his spouse in 1977, sharing credit with Oldenburg for their subsequent large-scale public projects. The couple created over three dozen large-scale public sculptures until van Bruggen's death from cancer in 2009. Oldenburg continued to pursue commissions on his own until his death in 2022.
