Hermann Burchardt (1857-1909) was a German-Jewish explorer, orientalist and photographer, who traveled extensively in the Arabian Peninsula, especially in Yemen, and documented the life of Yemenite Jews in his photographs. His archive includes personal documents, manuscripts in Arabic and Persian, lectures, records and diaries about his travels to the East, and many photographs. The National Library has part of Burchardt's photographic archive, including the diaries with lists that identify most of his photographs. Another part is kept in the Staatliche Museen/Ethnologisches Museum in Berlin. هرمان بورخارد (1909-1857)، هو مستشرق ومصوّر ألمانيّ يهوديّ. ينطوي أرشيفه على وثائق شخصيّة، مخطوطات بالعربيّة والفارسيّة، ومحاضرات، وسجلات ودفاتر يوميّات تتحدث عن رحلاته للشرق والعديد من الصّور. הארכיון כולל תעודות אישיות, כתבי יד בערבית ובפרסית, הרצאות, רשימות ויומנים מנסיעותיו למזרח וכן תצלומים. The archive includes personal and biographical documents, Persian and Arabic manuscripts, lectures, notes, and diaries of his travels to the Orient, and photographs.
