Notlar Manuscript codex. Title supplied by cataloger. Layout: 21 lines in four columns; catchwords each verso, lower left. Script: Written in nastaʻlīq in black ink; pointed. Decoration: Headpieces in blue and gold before each new work (f. 1v, 132v, 188v). Foliate text division markers with blue borders and delicate, leafy scrolls with small, polychrome flowers. Foliate fill in gold, silver, and orange between angled lines, often before illustrations (see as examples f. 33v, 78r, 84v-85r). 19 full-page illustrations (f.12r, 34r, 45r, 78v, 117v, 142v, 172r, 199r, 206r, 213r, 220r, 223v, 228r, 232r, 238r, 243r, 268r, 293r, 306v). Textblock is border-ruled in double gold and blue with gold double rules between the columns. Origin: The item is undated, likely copied in the 17th century. Shelfmark: X892.8 N651 Folio. Series of 11 inspection notes dated 1221-1229 AH /1806-1814 CE (f. 1r). Three seals (f. 1r). Also available as a digital facsimile. Purchased for Columbia with funds donated by John Dyneley Prince, James Speyer and Jacob H. Schiff; accessioned 1905 (library bookplate inside front cover). Marbled brown leather with gold tooled frame; brightly painted doublure of flower arrangments on bright turquoise and maroon lobed grounds with white and gold borders. - 1. f. 1v-130v: Sharaf-nāmah-ʼi Iskandarī 2. f. 131r: Final page of Khusraw va Shīrīn 3. f. 131v-187v: Laylī va Majnūn 4. f. 187v-Haft paykar [incomplete] 5. f. 256r-282v: Makhzan al-asrār [incomplete]
Örnek Metin Lacunose, illustrated copy of the Quintet, containing all of Iskandarnāmah and Laylī va Majnūn. Makhzan al-asrār is missing the beginning and the end; Haft paykar ends abruptly, and Khusraw va Shīrīn is missing all but the final page. This copy contains 19 full-page illustrations, numerous gold and polychrome decorative text division markers and foliate in-fill around angled lines and at the end of each work.
