Accompanying materials: a. Slip with notes between pp.118-119 -- b. Small slip with calculations between pp.166-167 -- c. Slip with lines (geomantic figures) and values between pp.176-177. Binding: Pasteboards covered in dark brown leather ; Type III binding (without flap) ; doublures in orange paper ; upper and lower covers carry blind-tooled border in a series of s-shaped stamps ; sewn in cream thread, two stations, many threads broken ; worked endbands in yellow and cream, virtually gone, only trace of headband remains ; overall in poor condition with much abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of spine leather, fully detached at spine, etc. ; housed in box for protection. Support: European laid paper of several types ; one type with 11 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 26 mm. apart (horizontal), and watermark of elaborate scrollwork (see p.8, 9, etc.) ; another type with laid lines in a mesh or crosshatch pattern, chain lines spaced 25-26 mm. apart (horizontal) and watermark of "LAVARENNA" (see p.52, 63, 104) ; another type with laid lines in a mesh or crosshatch pattern, chain lines spaced 26 mm. apart (horizontal) and watermarks of scrollwork with balance / scales (see p.230, etc.) and "CARLO GIUSTI" (see p.233, etc.) ; all medium to dark cream, fairly sturdy, and well-burnished. Decoration: Keywords, headings and symbols rubricated ; numerous tables and diagrams in black and red (including figure on p.108). Script: Shikastah (shikastah-nastaʻlīq / شكسته نستعليق ) ; elegant hand ; partially but irregularly seriffed with effect of words descending to baseline, closed counters, elongated horizontal strokes, pointing inconsistent though typically in distinct dots ; Arabic text (excerpts and text of figures, etc.) in a fine Persianate naskh. Layout: Written in 16 and 17 lines per page (as well 32 additional lines on the diagonal in the margins of the final section) ; frame-ruled. Collation: 14 IV(112), IV+1 (121) ; exclusively quaternions ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes front flyleaf). Incipit: "الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلوة والسلام على على خير خلقه محمد وآله اجمعين اما بعد منضور اين رساله اين بود كه پوشیده ..." Title from rubricated heading at opening on p.4. Ms. codex.
