Örnek Metin Continuous Persian bifolium from a late 16th/early 17th century manuscript of Abū al-Majd Bayz̤āvī's 13th century anatomical text, Mukhtaṣar dar ʼilm-i tashrīḥ. Text is arranged in 23-line single columns, measuring 248 x 127 mm. Leaves are extensively illuminated with Chinese-inspired scenes and motifs in a style which evokes 14th/15th century manuscripts, imitating illuminations with perceptible Chinese influence following the Mongol conquest of Persia in the 13th century. Scenes include dignitaries, officials, and clerks congregating in groups, dressed in Chinese fashion with hanfu headwear; seated figures with attendants, who are seen offering plates of food, reading from open books, and carrying swords; two agrarian figures, one with a scythe and another with a spade, who works in a meadow while a small white dog wanders beside him; and images of flowering plants (possibly with medicinal purposes) included throughout.
Kaynak göster Bifolium from Mukhtaṣar dar ʼilm-i tashrīḥ, #8886. Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, Cornell University Library.
Üretildi Iṣfahān?, between circa 1550 and circa 1650.
