Notlar Compilation of miscellaneous articles, most apparently by the same copyist, perhaps copied for his personal use. Pagination of the manuscript is inconsistent. It is apparent the articles were not bound together in the order in which they were written. Written in naskh in black ink with use of red for some illustrations.
Örnek Metin A compilation of notes concerning the sciences, for a reader fluent in both Farsi and Arabic. It includes a treatise on questions concerning astronomy and the use of the astrolable (leaves 1-18); short abstracts from a book about the sphere (?) attributed to Sheikh Bahāʼ al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Ḥusayn ʻĀmilī (leaves 19-22); quotes from a treatise on the design of astrolabes (leaf 23); a work on the science of calculation (leaves 122-144); Risala fi al-Handassa, a treatise on geometry (?) (leaves 175-201); and Talkhis fi Ilm al-Ma'ani, on the Arabic language and the use of rhetoric (?). Bound in morocco, the volume is in sefina format, oblong and narrow so as to facilitate notetaking and to be easily carried in the pocket.
Biyografik/Tarihsel not Sheikh Bahāʼ al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Ḥusayn ʻĀmilī was a Persian judge, mathematician, astronomer, and architect who lived and worked mainly in Isfahan, in what is now Iran. He was responsible for the revival of the mathematical sciences in Iran, and was one of the very few Muslim scholars who advocated for the idea that the Earth rotates as early as the 16th century, independent of Western influences.
