Tarih Gregorian: 17th/Cq1.-1699-1600
Notlar The manuscript contains only the second half of the Shahnama, starting with the reign of Luhrasp, but is missing one or two folios at each end. The text ends with a page of chalipa script; unfortunately the following folio, which would have contained the colophon, is missing, and 'replaced' by the Qajar watecolour.Rubrics in red nasta'liq on a gold ground. The catchwords are in place, though sometimes partly trimmed. This is essentially quite a good and attractive copy of the Shahnama, which has been very badly treated and in many places (especially the paintings) deliberately spoiled. The text departs very considerably from the standard editions of the poem, many lines not being found in the concordance.Data initially collected by Shreve Simpson. Ms. also inspected by Ch.M., 4 November 2008.For the complete manuscript, and some additional information, see now the valuable website of the Walters Museum:http://www.thedigitalwalters.org/Data/WaltersManuscripts/html/W603/
