Notlar Judaeo-Arabic letter addressed to Joseph b. Šabbetay al-Rūmī in Fusṭāṭ (Miṣr), from Isaac. The writer begins by stating that 'the servant bought the letter to me[...] and it was in the hand of […] Joseph b. Šabbetay (i.e. you). The servant read it.' The rest of the letter is concerned with the copying of this letter, and describes the servant's going back and forth between the two parties. A request is also made for Joseph to send Sefer Berešit, either a book or scroll of Genesis. The opening and closing greetings are in Hebrew. The writer's name is written in the top left-hand corner: 'His servant, Isaac'. The address is written twice on verso in both Judaeo-Arabic and Arabic script. It reads: To [al-]Maḥrūsa Miṣr. Deliver to the master and teacher Yūsuf al-Rūmī.' (Arabic-script); 'To Miṣr. Deliver to the m[aster] and t[eacher] Joseph son of the scholar Šabbetay al-Rūmī.' (Judaeo-Arabic).
