Notlar Robinson, 197, notes that this is the same ms. as no. 1971-107/86. These three additional sheets, or rather probably their tinted drawings, are however associated with a Mughal Indian style of mid 17th century.
Süsleme The battle between Qarin and AfrasiyabFolio number: 001rNotes: The first of a group of three tinted drawings in a 17th-century ms., also represented by 1971-107/86 in the same collection. Reproduced in b/w in Robinson, 349 (no. 521). The unusual page (text) layout is in this case obscured by the drawing spilling out over the area below the painting that would have been intended originally for text. The text follows from the text block into the upper margins.Location in text:Mohl 8, Nauzar (7 years), first line: 200, break line before: 209, break line after: None, last line: 224.Rustam's first labour: Rakhsh kills a lionFolio number: 002vNotes: The second of this group of three folios illustrated with tinted drawings. Reproduced in b/w in Robinson, 350 (no. 522). The painting is on the verso side of the folio. The page (text) layout here is more conventional, the text within the text block above and below the painting being completed before the section in the margins. The painting actually comes in the passage after the fight, where Rustam reproaches Rakhsh for his dangerous action.Location in text:Mohl 12, Kay Kavus (150 years), first line: 313, break line before: 318, break line after: 319.0, last line: 338.Kay Khusraw executes AfrasiyabScene Title:The execution of AfrasiyabFolio number: 003vNotes: The third of three pictures in this group; reproduced in b/w in Robinson, 350 (no. 523). As Robinson notes (p. 198), this is quite unlike the normal Persian representation of the scene, being shown as the end of a single combat. Afrasiyab is depicted as a beardless youth. The text layout here is even more eccentric than in the other folios in this collection, the text in the margin belonging between the penultimate line and the final line within the text block, so that strictly speaking the break-line before is also the las line on the page. The break-line after is indicated by the catchword.Location in text:Mohl 13g, The Great War between Kay Khusrau and Afrasiyab, first line: 2388, break line before: 2405, break line after: 2406.0, last line: 2404.Sample pageFolio number: 254v
