Basmala, praise be to God who sent down to His servant the Book as an insight for those of understanding, and entrusted it with the most wondrous arts of science and wisdom, and made it the most sublime of all books... And after that, knowledge is a sea of abundance, the bottom of which cannot be comprehended... - Its author, may God Almighty have mercy on him and be pleased with us with it, said, I finished writing it... in the year eight hundred and seventy-eight, except for things I added after that... And the completion of copying this book was on the blessed Tuesday, the seventeenth of Rabi’ al-Awwal of the month. In the year 1113 of the Prophet’s Hijra, may peace and blessings be upon its owner.
