The beginning of the manuscript: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful (...) said (...) Shihab al-Din Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Ali bin Imad, whose father is famous as Balhaim, may God Almighty have mercy on him. Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds (...) As for what follows, this is a simple glimpse into the science of arithmetic that anyone who wants to embark on the science of religious duties is obliged to know, and it will be beneficial, God willing.
End of the manuscript: If it is said: Divide three and a third by half and a third, then multiply the numerator of the dividend by six, simplify the divisor by three, and divide the first quotient, which is sixty, by the second quotient, which is fifteen, then the answer is four, and if the fifteenth is divided by sixty, the answer is reversed by a quarter according to this measurement, and this amount is sufficient. It was done, thank God.
