The issue arose because of Persia's claim to sovereignty over Bahrain. This refusal by the Iranian authorities was later exetended (1938) to British passports bearing endorsements for the Trucial Coast A name used by Britain from the nineteenth century to 1971 to refer to the present-day United Arab Emirates. and Muscat. The file also contains papers dated 1947 concerning the issue by the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrain of visas for Eritrea. The principal correspondents are the Foreign Office, and HM Minister, Tehran (later HM Ambassador to Iran). The Persian language content of the file consists of a single form.
