Notlar This file contains correspondence between the British Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Bahrain; the British Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Kuwait; Charles Belgrave, Adviser to the Bahrain Government; Muḥammad ‘Alī al-Ṭāhir, Editor of the Cairo-based al-Shūrá newspaper; and Khālid bin Muḥammad al-Faraj. These correspondence concern personality and activities of Khālid bin Muḥammad al-Faraj and include details relating to his deportation from Kuwait, his time spent working in the Customs House at Dammām and his work as a school teacher in Bahrain and as a clerk in the Municipality of Manamah ( al-Baladiyyah ); his writings in Egyptian and Syrian newspapers against the ruling Āl Ṣabāḥ of Kuwait and the British; and his deportation from Bahrain in 1927 and eventual return in 1929. Included within these correspondence is a hand-written letter in Arabic from Muḥammad ‘Alī al-Ṭāhir, dated 24 Rajab 1345 (8 January 1927) and translation of an article entitled 'Literature in Bahrain and Kuwait' which appeared in the al-Shūrá newspaper on 26 Shawwāl 1345 (28 April 1927).
