Notlar This file contains correspondence between British officials that relates primarily to the rise in power of Bin Saood [commonly referred to as Ibn Sa'ud or ‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd in full]. This correspondence discusses the British Government's relationship with Ibn Sa'ud, his conflict with the Al Rashid rulers of the Emirate of Jabal Shammar (or Emirate of Ha'il) as well as his relations with the Ottoman Empire and the ruler of Kuwait, Shaikh Mubarak Al Sabah. Much of the correspondence is between the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in Bushire, Major Percy Zachariah Cox and the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in Kuwait, Captain Stuart George Knox. The file also contains a limited amount of direct correspondence between Ibn Sa'ud and Knox (in Arabic with English translations) and correspondence from the Foreign Office in London and the Foreign Department of the Government of India.
