Notlar Letter from Haj Muhammad 'Ali, Malik al-Tujjar at Bushire, dated 28 Suffur [Safar] 1280 / 12 July 1866 regarding a telegraph he had received from Addul Nubee, a Bushire merchant resiting in Busreh [Basra] regarding two of his slaves who had run away with some of his property and were on board the steamer Euphrates which was now anchoring at Bushire Roads. As the slaves had remained on board and not landed he required authorisation from the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in order for the Captain of the Euphrates to land them, and requested Pelly's assistance in doing so. The letter is written in Persian, with English translation
