This correspondence is primarily between officials at the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. , Foreign Office, Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Bahrain, Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Kuwait, Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in Bushire and Charles Belgrave, Adviser to the Ruler of Bahrain. Much of the correspondence discusses reporting deemed contrary to British interests and the ways in which British authorities in the region could counter this. In addition to correspondence the file contains copies of many of the articles that are discussed and the following documents: notes on Bahrain for foreign workers written by Charles Belgrave under the following headings: Political, Communications, Climate, Household, Dress, Medical, Recreations, Churches, Leave, Miscellaneous (folios 6-18) a transcript of an interview with Charles and Marjorie Belgrave on BBC Arabic, 1945 (folios 21-26) 'Bahrain, And What Is Said About It', a series of four propaganda articles regarding Bahrain written and prepared by the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Bahrain for placement in newspapers around the Arab world, in English (folios 111-129) and Arabic (folios 130-143). The file includes a divider, which gives a list of correspondence references contained in the file by year. This is placed at the back of the correspondence.
