Treatise on Variant Readings of the Qur'an (Kitab al-Badi') by Ibn Khalawayh (d. 980-1). Written in an elegant angular script, this work discusses different readings of the Qur'an, and was written by the grammarian and lexicographer Ibn Khalawayh. Born in Hamadan (Iran), he studied in Baghdad (Iraq), before moving to Aleppo (Syria), where he worked at the court of the Hamdanid amir Sayf al-Dawla. This copy of his book may have been written during Ibn Khalawayh's lifetime: an additional note records that the manuscript was written out in 370 AH (September-October 980).
