Notlar Treatise on the Prophet Muhammad's sandals (Fatḥ al-muta`āl fī madḥ al-ni`āl), by al-Maqqarī (d. 1632). Born in Tlemcen (Algeria), the scholar and historian Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Maqqarī (d. 1632) lived in several different cities, serving the Sa`adi ruler Aḥmad al-Manṣūr (d. 1603) in Fez and Marrakesh, before moving to Cairo, c. 1617. Composed in 1621, this work discusses the Prophet's sandals and also the traces of his footprints, which are attested in different sacred locations. This manuscript was copied in May 1661 from al-Maqqari's original autograph manuscript, which he had written out in 1632 (most likely in Cairo). Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, 121 folios, leather binding, Arabic text in naskh script, with 6 diagrams of the Prophet's sandal outline, Fatḥ al-muta`āl fī madḥ al-ni`āl by Shihāb al-Dīn Abū al-`Abbās Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ṭaṭā’ūnī al-Maqqarī al-Tilimsānī al-Mālikī al-Ash`arī (1578-1632), copied by `Abd al-Fattāḥ al-Ashmūnī al-Shāfi`ī, from an autograph manuscript made in 1041H (1632), probably Cairo, Egypt, dated 6 Ramadan 1071H, 4 May 1661.
