Notlar Fragment of linen roll preserving a portion of the Book of the Dead, dated to the fourth century BC and made in Egypt. Possibly from the wrappings of the mummified deceased, identified as 'scribe of documents of the king, of the Presence.' Unfortunately the name of the king's secretary is not preserved. The text is from chapter 125, in which the deceased addresses the gods of Judgement and declares their 'Negative Confession' of forty-two 'sins.'
