Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, 547 folios, Persian text in nasta`liq script, illuminated headings and shamsa medallion (its text deliberately erased), 59 paintings (some faces retouched, or flaking to reveal the underdrawing), the Book of Kings (Shahnama) by Firdausi, text copied by Muhammad Ma`sum ibn Sultan Muhammad al-Haravi, possibly Khurasan, Iran, dated 8 Dhu'l-Hijjah 950H, 3 February 1544, paintings possibly dateable (by style) c. 1575
