Notlar Stars of the Sciences (Nujum al-'ulum). This is an encyclopaedic survey of astrology and astral magic. Composed in Bijapur, apparently by Sultan `Ali `Adil Shah himself, the text interweaves many different cosmological accounts of the heavens and the earth, including Islamic and Hindu traditions. There are almost 400 paintings, charts and diagrams, of constellations, planets, angels, talismans and other cosmic and earthly forces. Codex, 348 folios, ink, colours and gold on paper, black leather binding, Persian text with 365 paintings, composed by Sultan `Ali `Adil Shah (r.1557-1579), Bijapur, India, dated 14 Rabi` I 978H, 1570. The manuscript lacks a full colophon, and is not complete.
