The history of Akbar (Akbarnama), by Abu'l-Fazl `Allami. The Akbarnama was composed by Akbar's court historian, minister and friend, Abu’l-Fazl `Allami. This codex forms volume two and part of volume three of the biography of the Mughal emperor Akbar (r. 1556-1605), covering the years 1556 to 1579. Volume one is now in the British Library (Or. 12988). Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, 213 folios, Persian text in nasta`liq script, with illuminated headings (fols. 1v, 177v, for start of volumes 2 and 3) and 3 paintings (fols. 177r, 212r, 212v), the History of Akbar (Akbarnama), by Abu’l-Fazl ibn Mubarak `Allami (1551-1602), covering Mughal emperor Akbar's biography for the years 1556-1579, unsigned (no colophon), tooled leather binding signed Muhammad Zaman `Abbasi, Agra, India, undated, c. 1603-1605. Also in this museum are 58 folios (with full colour and nim qalam paintings) detached from this codex, and four further paintings pasted onto folios from Farhang-i Jahangiri, purchased separately from Demotte (In 61.9, 61.10, 61.11, 61.12).
