Örnek Metin Energy storage plays a crucial role in the micro-grid design in which no grid connection is possible. Although the cost of storage reduced in the past decade, it is still considerably high; thus, the optimization of the battery size for the micro-grid projects is an important problem. This study presents a linear programming approach to the problem of storage size minimization. Two case studies inspired by two distribution system operators in Turkey are presented with the details characteristics of supply and demand. The realistic dataset makes the findings of the case studies valuable. While the diesel generator capacity increases in a microgrid, the battery size reduces. However, the number of cycles does not change much. The optimal battery charging profile has a positive correlation with the diesel generation profile.
