Islamic Scientific Manuscripts Initiative (ISMI)
ISMI (Islamic Scientific Manuscripts Initiative) database is a comprehensive digital platform that provides access to authors from the Islamic civilization, their works and existing manuscript testimonies in the field of mathematical sciences. This project covers "pure" mathematical sciences such as geometry and algebra, as well as "mixed" mathematical sciences such as astronomy, optics, music and mechanics; It is a modern, online successor to the essential biographical and bibliographic works of Heinrich Suter and Rosenfeld and İhsanoğlu. The database is designed to facilitate research through "transitive queries" that not only present data but also reveal connections such as teacher-student lineages, text-commentary relationships, and chains of ownership. Thanks to the advanced "Query Builder", researchers can conduct multi-layered searches (such as artifacts on astronomy instruments copied between 1250-1350), while they have the opportunity to analyze the data with visualization tools being developed in the "ISMI Lab" section.
