University of Seville Library

The Library of the University of Seville (BUS) is one of the most established and rich academic libraries in Spain, with roots dating back to the founding of the university in 1505. It has an extensive network structure of more than 17 subject libraries spread across different campuses rather than a single centre. The most iconic part of the system is the General Library, located in the historic Old Tobacco Factory (Real Fábrica de Tabacos), which is also the Rectorate building. The library is internationally renowned for its millions of print and electronic resources, as well as its historical collection, particularly known as the "Fondo Antiguo" (Ancient Fund); This collection contains more than 900 incunabula (books printed before 1501), thousands of manuscripts, and tens of thousands of rare prints dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries, providing an invaluable treasure trove for researchers. In addition to preserving this rich historical heritage, BUS is a dynamic information center that meets modern education and research needs with its institutional archive called "Idus" and advanced digital infrastructure.
