European paper with watermark. Inscription "Kitāb-i zīj" on fol. 1a. Foliation in pencil using Western numerals (before fol. 1 is an unnumbered blank fly-leaf).Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Riyāḍīyāt 169". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "519/2 Ḥ".Origin: According to the colophon, copied by Fatḥ Allāh ibn ʻĪsá in 908 H. However, the paper and script seem to indicate a later date.Incipit: الحمد لله الذى خلق كل شيء بقدر وقدّر له ما يليق به من اشكال وصور والصلوة على من تم بمقدمه رسم دائرة الرسالة والتشريع ... وبعد فان الهندسة مع متانة مسائلها و وثاقة دلائلها بحيث لا ياتيها الباطل من بين يديها ولا من خلفها علم يحتاج اليه الكملة المتفكرون فى خلق السموات والارض ... [3أ] ... بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله ربّ العالمين والصلوة على نبيه محمد واله واصحابه اجمعين وبعد فان جماعة من الفضلاء وطائفة من الاصدقاء التمسوا منى رسالة تكون مقدمة والة فى اقتناء اى اتخاذ براهين العلوم الحسابية الظاهر انه اراد بالعلوم الحسابية ههنا القوانين التى هى مسائل علم الحسابExplicit: مساويا لح د الذى هو مربع ح د النصف مع الزيادة وذلك ما اردناه وهذه الاشكال الخمسة الاخيرة من ثانية كتاب الاصول لاقليدس وليكن هذا اخر الكلام على الاتمام والصلوة على محمد اله الكرام الى يوم القيام والله اعلم بالصواب واليه المرجع المآبIncipit text 2 (fol. 63b): قال افضل [المتا]خرين نصير الملة والدين رحمه الله فى قوله والاناء المملوه 5 وقيل الحوض فى القصود بذكر مقدمه هي هذه اذا كانت دايرتان مختلفتان وقد فصل منهما - Quarter bound with flap (paper over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, and envelope flap; brown leather spine and fore-edge flap. Paper pastedowns. - Commentary on Ashkāl al-taʼsīs, selected theorems from Euclid's Elements by Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Ashraf al-Ḥusaynī al-Samarqandī. The commentary is dedicated to Ulugh Bey (see preamble). The text is followed on fol. 63b64b by a short text on similar questions, attributed to Naṣīr al-Dīn [al-Ṭūsī?].
