Notlar Ms. roll.Physical description: Written in clear naskhi script in black on glossy tan paper backed with green silk. Illuminated header in gold, blue, red, green, and pink. Sentences terminate with gilt discs. Entire document in framed in gold, and lines of text are bordered by gold. Names in genealogical tree are placed in large circles bordered by red, green, and gold; on either side of the tree are floral designs in the same colors. Five stamps and four statements of certification in Arabic and Ottoman Turkish.Origin: One stamp dated 1325 AH (1909); a second dated 1328 AH (1912). - Document consists of a short text on the merits of the Prophet's descendants (sharīf) followed by a genealogical tree outlining eight generations of the sharīf ancestors of Muḥammad Sharaf al-Dīn ibn Muṣtafá Ḥaqqī from Rethymno, Crete. Two women are included in the central line. The genealogy is witnessed by seven men and certified by five officials, three of whom held the post of naqīb al-ashrāf (recorder of genealogies of the descendants from Prophet Muḥammad); three additional names, possibly witnesses, are at the end of ms.
