Thick light cream paper with laid and chain lines and pulp visible. Fol. 1 consists of a later piece of paper pasted on the recto of an original fol. Marginal annotations, apparently by the same hand as the main text. Table of contents on fol. 1a. Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Ḥadīth thānī 122". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥāʼ 1321".The first three fol. are severely damaged and crudely repaired, with loss of text.On fol. 209b: Inscriptions mentioning dates of birth ; obliterated ownership statement in Ottoman Turkish.Copy completed on Saturday 19 Shaʻbān 870 [April 1466] by Muḥammad Ibn Aḥmad Ibn al-shaykh Maḥmūd al-Kurdī al-Shāfiʻī, living in Ḥārat Kalāsah (colophon, fol. 209a).Beginning of text as extant (first title, l. 3): حدثنا اسماعيل ابن ابي [---] بن سعيد قال اخبرني ابو بكر بن محمد عن [---] ما زال جبريل يوصيExplicit: حدثنا احمد بن اشكاب ثنا محمد بن فضيل ... كلمتان حبيبتان الى الرحمن خفيفتان على اللسان ثقيلتان على الميزان سبحان الله وبحمده سبحان الله العظيم - Upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap made of brown leather over paper pasteboards. The covers are blind-tooled. Black and purple marbled paper pastedown and free endpaper. - Last portion of the Jāmiʻ al-ṣaḥīḥ, comprising the text from the end of Kitāb al-adab to the end. The beginning of the text is lost due to damage on fol. 1. However the abrupt character of the beginning of text on fol. 1b, which starts with no title or basmalah, seems to indicate that some leaves are missing.
