Written in medium large naskh in black ink with use of red and green ink on the first folios. From fol. 9a on, black ink with headings in larger script. Light biscuit paper with laid and chain lines visible. Marginal annotations. The first folio is damaged with loss of text. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a, including the title, a biographical note on the author by the same hand, a Kabīkaj, and several ownership statements, with one seal dated 1035 H. Spine label (vertical, partly wanting), with the inscription: "3-5 ...? al-ʻUmdah fī al-aḥkām lil-Maqdisī Ḥadīth".Collation: Paper, fol. 76 ; 1¹⁰ (-1, before fol. 1) 2-7¹⁰ 8⁶ (+1, after fol. 75).Origin: Copied for himself by Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Aḥmad al-Shāfiʻī on 19 Ramaḍān 733 [June 3, 1333] (colophon, fol. 75a). Long collation statement, stating that this copy was collated on a copy in the hand of Fakhr al-Dīn Abū Muḥammad ʻAbd al-Raḥmān Ibn ... Shams al-Dīn Abī ʻAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn ... Fakhr al-Dīn Abī Muḥammad ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn(?) al-Baʻalbakī al-Ḥanbalī, and copying an even longer collation statement from this copy (fol. 65b). - Decorated paper over aper pasteboards for upper and lower cover and envelope flap. Golden brown leather fore-edge flap, spine and edges. Paper pastedown. - Collection of ordinances according to traditions, from Muslim and al-Bukhārī. This copy has an interesting collation statetment on fol. 65b (see Origin note).
