Notlar Ms. codex.Title from beginning of text (fol. 2a, l. 16-17). The same title appears in the colophon (fol. 271a).19 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Thick European glazed paper with watermark. The text is framed within two lines in red ink (gold and black frame on fol. 1(bis)b-2a). Illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) on fol. 1(bis)b. Collation notes on the margins and on pieces of paper pasted between the original folios (see between fol. 13 an 14). Fol. 1b-1(bis)a: Blank. Title on the tail of the text block (hardly legible). Inscription in Roman script on a spine label: "A20" (vertical ; similar label on the pastedown of the upper cover). Inscription in Arabic numerals on a label pasted on the upper cover: "59". Foliation in black ink using Arabic numerals on the outer corner of the frame of the recto of each leaf (starts with "2" on fol. 2a of the modern foliation). Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals (omits a leaf between fol. 1 and 2). This record follows the modern foliation.Copy completed on Yawm al-Sabt 24 Ṣafar 1201 [Dec. 16, 1786] by ʻAbd al-Fattāḥ ibn Khaṭṭāb al-Ashbūlī(?) al-Shāfiʻī (colophon, fol. 271a).Collation: Paper, fol. 270 ; 1-26¹⁰ 27¹⁰ (+1 at the end) ; catchword on the verso of each leaf.Incipit: الحمد لله الذى انزل على عبده الكتاب المبين المتلو على اشرف الانبياء ... Both covers have a central blind tooled mandorla with two pendants on the vertical axis. Mandorla and pendants outlined in gold. Large outer frame consisting of fillets and a running pattern. The inner border of the frame is outlined in gold with three small rosettes in the corners and in the middle of each line. Paper pastedowns. - Elegant copy of a historical treatise on the Barmakids.
