Notlar Ms. codex.Title from fol. 1a.Title on the lower edge of text block: Mukhtaṣar Sharḥ al-Mūnāwī ʻalá al-Shamāʾil al-Sharīfah lil-Ṭalyāwī.30 lines per page. Written in small casual naskh in brown ink with use of red for rubrication. European glazed paper. Catchwords on the verso of each folio. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.Ms. additions: Inscription on fol. 93a-b, dated 1214 (1799), contains a supplication regarding the founding of a madrasah in a building, situated in "the middle of the garden in a place known as al-Junaynah al-Jadīdah", and bought from a certain Hājj Khalīl Afandī, the khaṭīb of [the mosque of] Khālid ibn Zayd Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī (the Eyüp Sultan Cami and medrese in Istanbul?).Incipit:بسم الله ... وبعد فهذه تقييدات منقولة من شرح العلامة المناوي شارح الشمايل لابي عيسى الترمذي ... كل شارع في فن لا بد ان يتصوره ويعرف ثمرته وموضوعه ... علم الحديث هو علم يعرف به اقوال رسول اللهExplicit: واحسن الاقاويل بحيث تظفر بمعني الحديث و... ثمرته علي احب حالة سهلة مضبوطه مقبولة ان شأ الله تعالي واسال الله تعالي ان تجعل المصطفى شفيقنا وذخرنا وان يغفر لي و لمن تلقاه بلقب سليم الله رحمن رحيم وصلي الله ... وصحبه وسلم - Half leather with paper over pasteboard. Spine, fore-edge flap and board edges in brown leather. Covers in blue and orange marbled paper. Envelope flap. Pastedowns in yellow paper. Lining of the fore-edge flap in green cloth. Label in Arabic on upper cover: "Ḥadīth 88". Label on inside of upper cover: " Ḥ 2/219". - Gloss extracts from Munāwī's commentary on al-Shamāʾil al-Nabawīyah by Muḥammad ibn ʻĪsá al-Tirmidhī (d. 892), compiled by Muṣṭafá ibn Zaydān al-Ṭalyāwī. The work was completed on the 5th of Shaʻbān 1206 (1792) -- colophon (fol. 92b).
