Author's name written on lower edge of text block "ʻUmar ibn al-Fāriḍ".Collation: Paper ; fol. iii + 387 + iv ; catchwords ; partial pagination in red ink using Hindu-Arabic numerals (fol. 1b-35a) ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.Layout: 21 lines per page.Description: Rubricated ; fol. 169-240 either stained or tinted light brown ; watermarks (three crescents; roman-alphabet initial "FP") ; MS in good condition.Origin: According to colophon copy completed 23 Shaʻbān 1079 by Ṣāliḥ ibn Yaʻqūb al-Īfāʼī in Damascus (fol. 387b).Incipit: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم قال الشيخ ... بن الفارض ... الحمد لله الذي اختص حبيبه الاسنى بمقام [قاب قوسين] اوادنى ... فاتحة الکتاب بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله الذي رفع الادب واهله ...Colophon: وقد تم نسخه وفاح نشره في ثلاثة وعشرين خلت من شهر شعبان المبارك سنة 1079 تسعة وسبعون [سبعين] بعد الالف من هجرة من خلق على اکمل وصف بخط عبده الفقير صالح بن يعقوب الايفائي بدمشق الشام المعمورة - Later type III (without flap) binding in light brown leather. Blind-stamped central design and cornerpieces. Blind- and color-tooled decorative edging. Multi-colored endbands. - A commentary on the collection of original poems by Ibn al-Fāriḍ. The commentary is followed by a selection of Ibn al-Fāriḍ's poems (fol. 368b-387b).
