Notlar Ms. codex.Title from colophon (fol. 272a). The same title (without "Kitāb") appears on an inscription by a later hand on fol. 1a.Physical description: 24 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink, with use of red (professional hand). Light cream paper, glossy, with laid lines and pulp visible. Ḥāshiyah on the margins of the beginning of the text. Occasional marginal annotations throughout. Several inscriptions, including ownership statements on fol. 1a. Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Title on tail of text block. Lower part of last fol. (fol. 272) cut off. Upper part of fol. 129-227 eaten by rodents, with loss of text of annotations.Inscription in Arabic numerals on a hand-made label pasted on the upper cover: "425".Origin: According to the colophon, copy completed on Friday 10 Ṣafar 1087 [April 24, 1676] by Jalāl ibn Muḥammad Khān ... al-Lāhijānī (fol. 272a, partly in Persian, followed by verses).Copyist: Jalāl ibn Muḥammad Khān al-Lāhijānī.Incipit: الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلوة على رسوله محمد وآله اجمعين اما بعد فاعلم ان هنا فايدة لا بدّ قبل الشروع فى المق من الاشارة اليها وهي ان المشهور بين الطلبة انه لا يجوز تفسير القران بغير نصّ واثرExplicit: مع كون سبب النزول خاصّا لما مرّ ثمّ على تقدير التخصيص ايض لا يبعد التعميم لفهم العلّة فيستخرج الباقى فتامل - Red leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. Both covers are similarly blind-tooled and stamped, with a central mandorla with two pendants on the vertical axis and an outer border consisting of fillets. Leather doublure.
