Written in medium small nastaʻlīq in black ink with use of red. Foliation in pencil in Western numerals. Catchwords on the verso of each folio. Glazed European paper. Substantial marginal annotations in same hand in the first half of the text only. Several short inscriptions on fol. 1a, one of which is an endowment statement in the name of Abdullah Edip known as Cennet-zade, the Kadi of Erzurum, dated 1262 (1845-6) and accompanied by his seal. Another faint black seal and a circular seal with the figure of goat in purple ink, also on fol. 1a.Incipit: الحمد لوليه ... اما بعد فهذه فوائد وافية بحل مشكلات الكافية للعلامة المشهور فى المشارق والمغارب الشيخ ابن الحاجبExplicit: فان التنوين اذا انفتح ما قبلها تقلب الفا واذا انضم او انكسر بحرف نحو اصبحت خبرا واصابنى خبر واختم لى خبر - Brown leather with envelope flap, blind fillets around borders and blind stamped mandorlas in the center of upper and lower covers and the envelope flap. Lining to fore-edge flap in dark burgundy leather tooled in a diced pattern. Pastedowns and lining to envelope flap in grey paper. - Jāmī's commentary on ʻUthmān ibn ʻUmar Ibn al-Ḥājib's grammar book, Kitāb al-Kāfīyah. The work was written for his son Ḍiyāʾ al-Dīn and was completed on Saturday, the 11th of Ramaḍān 897 (1492).
