Notlar Ms. codex.Title from f. 1a.On inner front cover: W.S.W. Ms. 1.35.Physical description: 18 lines per page; written in crude naskh in black on laid European paper. Headings and some punctuation in red ink. Catchwords; a few marginal notes. Lacunae follow fol. 15, 48 and 55. Paper is slightly discolored, some leaves torn, others repaired, especially in gutter. Edges ragged; minor insect damage. Some damp staining. Text block loosened from binding.Origin: Copy completed July 1807 by Ibrāhīm al-Shāmī ibn Ḥurmat [?] ibn Yūsuf al-Shāmī in nine days (fol. 61a).Incipit: وبعد فهذا اخين القدسين الجليلين الشيخ برلام وابن ملك الهند يوصاف مأخوذ باختصار عما دونه القديس يوحنا الدمشقي باسهاب وهي قصة عجيبة تغير عقل من يتلوها بتفهم - Binding is brown leather over pasteboard. Spine is plain except for three ribs formed by hinge cords. Covers have blind stamped filleted frame. Inside is a sawtooth frame. The centers are bisected by two lines running diagonally from the corners and intersecting in the center. The interstices of the intersecting lines contain four floriated panel stamps. Cover corners are worn. - Selections from Barlaam and Joasaph, a retelling of the Buddha Legend from within a Christian context, previously attributed to St. John of Damascus; followed by a selection of moral tales on fol. 45a-61a.
