Notlar Ms. codex.Title from colophon of Juzʾ 2 (fol. 133a).Physical description: 21 lines per page. Written in careful small naskh in black ink with use of red, and occasional use of blue. Yāʾ for alif maqṣūrah ; final yāʾ dotted. Red tear-drop text stops, single or in groups of three, at the beginning of the copy. Dark cream paper, glossy, hardly translucid, with laid lines visible. Fol. 1 consists of a later leaf pasted on the recto of an original leaf; fol. 162 is a later addition, with inscriptions. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a and 161a-b, including a note on the text quoted from Ibn Khallikān and a note mentioning the date 24 Ramaḍān 1013. Title on head of text block.Chiefly quinions. Catchword on the verso of each leaf; the quires are numbered using Arabic ordinals (see "al-Rābiʻ" on fol. 30a).Inscription in Arabic script in red pencil on the pastedown of the upper cover: "86".Origin: According to colophon of Juzʾ 2, copied by Muḥammad ibn Irkmās al-ṭawīl al-Yashbakī al-Ḥanafī, Tuesday 18 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 868 [Aug. 1464] (fol. 133a). On the copyist (b. 842), see Sakhāwī, al-Ḍawʾ al-lāmiʻ, vol. 7, p. 131.Incipit: بسم ... اللهم نحمدك على ما اوليت من الالاء والمنن وابليت من البلاء الحسن ... هذا كتاب جمعته من نتايج الافكار وطرق الاخبار والاثارExplicit: سقي بالليام ولا ترى سقيا بهم الا كريم السمايل - Dark brown leather over paper pasteboards with flap. Two sets of blind tooled fillets define a central panel with a central stamped lobed mandorla, filled with a floral pattern. Portion of the same blind tooling on the fore edge flap, with smaller stamp. Marbled paper pastedowns. - First four and beginning of the fifth books (bāb) of this anthology in fifty books.
