Thick light cream paper with laid and chain lines visible ; frame-ruled. Fol. 1 is a later addition (European paper with watermark). The quires (mainly quinions; see however the third quire) are numbered using Arabic ordinals in red ink ; catchword on the verso of each leaf. Title on tail of text block. Piece of paper with annotations in Ottoman Turkish placed between fol. 48 and 49. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.Inscription in Arabic script in pencil on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Raqm 106 ...".Origin: According to colophon, copied by Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr (?), and completed on Thursday 12 Rabīʻ al-Awwal 871 [Oct. 22, 1466] (fol. 85b).Incipit: بسم ... وبه نستعين يقول سيدنا ومولانا الشيخ الامام العالم العامل ... بدر الدين محمد بن ابى بكر بن عمر المخزومي المالكي الدماميني اما بعد حمد الله الذي لا يتوجه عليه الاعتراض على نعم تذلل بها صعاب المسايل وتراض ... فان بعض سكان الاسكندرية ممن يزعم انه من طلبة العلم ويدعي انه من اولي النهي والحلم ... [4ب] ... قال واما هذا القصيدة الامية فانما سميت لامية العدم تشبيها لها بلامية العرب ... [5أ] ... اقول اما الاضافة الواقعة في قولهم لامية العرب فمشعرة بالتعظيم والشرفExplicit: لاكثر مما اوردته فلنقتصر على هذا القدر ففيه كفاية واسال الله حسن الخاتمة واصلى على سيدنا محمد خاتم النبيين وعلى اله وصحبه اجمعين [85ب] وحسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل والحمد لله رب العالمين - Quarter bound with flap in red paper and red leather. Paper pastedowns. - Clear copy of a commentary on Lāmīyat al-ʻAjam by al-Ḥusayn ibn ʻAlī al-Ṭughrāʼī (d. 515/1121), intended as a refutation of the errors in al-Ṣafadī's commentary entitled Ghayth al-adab alladhī insajama fī sharḥ Lāmīyat al-ʻAjam (see preamble of text). According to GAL, Damāmīnī's work was completed in 794/1392 in Cairo.
