The text is framed within a single red line on some leaves. Soft dark cream paper, hardly translucid, with pulp visible. Marginal and interlinear annotations. Inscriptions and short texts in Arabic and Ottoman Turkish on fol. 1a and 200a. Stained with humidity ; mildew.Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Naḥw awwal 34". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "669/2 Ḥ".Origin: According to colophon, copied in 848 H. (fol. 199b).Beginning of text as extant (fol. 2a): بالله عليه توكلت واليه انيب قوله الكلمة لفظ وضع لمعنى مفرد اعلم ان معرفة هذا الحد موقوفة على معرفة اللفظIncipit (gloss, fol. 1b): بسم ... الكلمة لفظ وضع لمعنى مفرد فيه عشرة اشكال الاشكال الاول ان الالف واللام فى الكلمة لا يجوز ان يكون للجنسExplicit: فانك اذا قلت فى يا زيدون اضربن اضربوا فى الوقف وفى يا امراة اضربن اضربى فى الوقف لم يعلم انه بدل عن النون او هو المحذوف المردود وليكن اخر الكلمة فى هذا الكتاب والحمد لله وحده والله اعلم بالصواب واليه المرجع والماب - Quarter bound with flap in purple and red paper and dark brown leather. Yellow paper pastedowns. - Commentary on al-Kāfīyah fī naḥw, a treatise on grammar by Jamāl al-Dīn ʻUthmān ibn ʻUmar Ibn al-Ḥājib (d. 646/1249). The text starts with a fragment from an anonymous gloss on the first sentence of the Kāfiayh, same as Berlin, 6596 (Mach, R. Yahuda). This stops abruptly, and is followed on fol. 2a by the end of the preamble of the Wāfiyah.
