Notlar Ms. codex.Title from colophon (fol. 268a).33 lines per page. Written in a casual medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for "qawluhu", "bāb", re-inking and overlining. Thick cream paper, glossy, laid lines and pulp visible. Marginal annotations, mainly collation notes. Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Water damage at the beginning and the end of the vol., text still legible.Copy completed on 15 Dhū al-Qaʻdah 834 [July 25, 1431] by Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Maḥallī al-Tūnī (colophon, fol. 268a).Two spine labels (vertical), reading respectively: "al-Kawākib al-darārī fī sharḥ Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī lil-Kirmānī" (in Arabic sript) and "281" (in Arabic and Western numerals).Incipit: الحمد لله الذى انعم عيننا(؟) بجلايل النعم ... اما بعد فان علم الحديث بعد القران هو افضل العلوم واعلاها واجلّ المعارفExplicit: قوله شطر اى نصف ... فى باب وقت العشا الى نصف الليل تم الجز الاول ... ويتلوه الجزء الثانى اوله باب فضل من غدا - Only the original lower cover is extant (damaged) : brown leather over paper pasteboard with an elaborate border of blind tooled fillets and running patterns with gold dots ; the central panel defined by fillets has a central medallion consisting of a six pointed star of intertwined fillets, inscribed within circular fillets with radiating flecks. The spaces between the fillets shaping the star are filled with gold dots. Two square pendants consisting of impressions of a small stamp on the vertical axis of the central medallion. The inner corners of the central panel, outlined by fillets are filled with gold dots. The leather doublure is covered by paper. Upper cover : embossed glazed paper over paper pasteboard with brown leather edges ; paper pastedown. Leather spine. - First volume of a commentary on Bukhārī's Jāmiʻ al-ṣaḥīḥ.
